Will the company have to make any contributions?

It depends on what type of plan you select. A profit sharing plan and/or a Money Purchase plan do require employer contributions. A 401(k) Plan only requires the employer to make a contribution if the plan is "top heavy". A plan is top heavy if more than 60% of the plan balance belongs to the owners or officers of the company.

What services do I receive for the money I pay to Retirement Essentials?

Retirement Essentials provides all required ERISA disclosures and a plan administration kit which contains your pertinent documents, forms, and procedures. We also provide quarterly valuations for 401(k) plans, annual valuations for other plans, compliance testing, contribution calculations, government reporting, IRS approved documents, and news and information concerning retirement plans. A pension specialist is assigned to your plan and will be available to you at our 800 number for all of your questions and concerns.

What about investing the plan money?

Retirement Essentials's staff is highly trained in the area of retirement plan compliance issues for IRS and Department of Labor. We are not an investment company and have no expertise in investing. We leave the investing up to the Employer. Therefore the Employer is free to choose whatever investment company or investment manager that they feel will do the best job for their plan assets. We require that the Employer provide us with the investment information so that we can perform the testing, government reporting, and allocation of the assets among the participants in the plan.
